Video from Friday prayer

The usual caveats apply about identifying video from YouTube. But I got this from several reliable Twitterers, and it certainly appears to be a Friday prayer -- note the prayer rugs in the street.

Photos of a ransacked Tehran University

We heard many unconfirmed reports of violence at Tehran University last night. And photos are coming out this morning that support those reports. The university looks like it was ransacked overnight; a few of the photos show injured students. We've posted a few of them here -- you'll find the rest on the "25 Khordad" blog (25 Khordad is today's date on the Persian calendar).

Our best estimate, based on the information available, is that at least a dozen students were seriously wounded, and many more were arrested (or otherwise disappeared).

A handful of insurgent attacks around the country killed two dozen people, but Iraqi security forces seemed generally confident; the vehicle ban in Baghdad, scheduled to last all day, was lifted before noon. Anecdotal reports suggest a strong turnout across the country.

Iraq's campaign season wrapped up today, 48 hours ahead of the election, as soldiers and medical personnel voted early. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers and police will be on duty Sunday for the general election, when millions of Iraqis will vote at some 10,00 polling centers around the country (and abroad).
