Playing softball with Bibi
The Israeli media are all buzzing about an interview with Benjamin Netanyahu in today's Washington Post.
Turns out the interview is with Lally Weymouth -- her second thumb-sucker with Bibi this year.
Some of Weymouth's hard-hitting questions:
What did you think of the Goldstone report?
What do you think should happen with the Palestinians?
Shimon Peres told me that you are mistakenly viewed as a right-winger.
I especially enjoyed the last one -- though it's actually not a ridiculous assertion; Israeli politics have become more conservative over the last few years, and there are plenty of prominent politicians to the right of Netanyahu (his foreign minister being one example).
The only shred of news in the interview: Netanyahu said Israel is "looking into" setting up an independent inquiry into the Goldstone Report's findings. "We're looking into that not because of the Goldstone report but because of our own internal needs," he said.
